Meet Shelley!

Shelley is the proud founder of DWAZ Creations & Events, a business built on heart, purpose, and above all—passion. A loving mother of two, Shelley has always been guided by her deep care for others and a desire to make a meaningful difference through creativity.

With over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Shelley officially “retired” in 2022—but in truth, it was just the beginning of a new chapter. That same year, DWAZ was born: a business that reflects her love for crafting, her drive to empower, and her commitment to creating memorable, beautiful moments.

Starting with sewing—crafting everything from pregnancy pillows and baby clothes to soft, luxurious blankets—Shelley poured her creativity into every stitch. Her journey soon expanded into baking and event planning, coordinating everything from children’s parties to large-scale conferences for major clients like the ANC, EFF, and Motorola Solutions.

Yet, her proudest work happens behind the scenes—uplifting women. Every week, Shelley welcomes four women from previously disadvantaged backgrounds into her sewing space, offering them lessons, access to machines, and the chance to earn an income. Through this, she’s not just teaching a skill—she’s building confidence and opening doors to independence.

Shelley’s heart for charity also shines through in her annual donation of over 100 handmade blankets to senior homes like Mooihaven and Pointsettia Park, ensuring that those often forgotten feel remembered and cared for.

More than a businesswoman, Shelley is a nurturer, a creator, and a mentor. With DWAZ Creations & Events, she’s building more than events—she’s building a legacy of passion, empowerment, and community.
